The dates for garden waste and bulky waste in 2028 have not been entered yet: please check the Commune’s calendar.

Dropping off your waste any day

No need to wait for collection day: the neighbourhood recycling point is open every day. The calendar dates only concern collection outside the buildings.

Neighbourhood recycling point

Place de Pré-Marais, Saint-Mathieu

Open: Monday to Friday 8 am to 8 pm; Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 8 am to 7 pm.
Glass: never on Sundays or public holidays (noise).

What you can drop off:

  • household rubbish
  • food waste
  • glass
  • paper and cardboard
  • aluminium and tin cans
  • batteries (not lithium batteries)
  • textiles
  • coffee capsules

Everything goes inside the containers. A bag or box left next to them can be fined.

Châtillon recycling centre

Chemin des Communaux 40, Bernex · 022 546 76 00

Free for residents, with a QR code from espaces-de-recuperation.ch. For everything that does not go to the neighbourhood point:

  • bulky waste, furniture, wood
  • electrical and electronic appliances
  • hazardous waste: paint, oils, light bulbs, batteries
  • scrap metal, PET bottles, rubble, tyres without rims
  • large amounts of garden waste

Open: closed on Mondays and public holidays.
March to October: Tuesday to Friday 3 pm to 7 pm; Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm.
November to February: Tuesday to Friday 2 pm to 5 pm; Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm.

Compost is free there, up to 30 kg.

Putting your waste out (collection)

  • On the morning of collection, before 7 am, never the day before.
  • In the building’s wheelie bins, marked with the waste logo: never a bag on the ground.
  • Food waste: compostable bags only (a “100% recycled” bag is not compostable). The small green bin is free at the town hall. No cat litter, cigarette ends, nappies or vacuum bags.
  • Branches and dead leaves: in the organic waste bins. Never on the pavement.
  • Scrap metal and bulky waste: at the earliest the evening before collection, at the roadside. Not allowed outside the dates.
  • Large amounts of branches: home pick-up by Chevalley Transports, paid service, 022 777 17 74.
